Postdoctoral Scholar – Eom Lab – Intercellular Comm

A Postdoctoral Scholar Employee position is available in the Eom Lab in the Department of Developmental and Cell Biology, the University of California, to study cellular protrusion mediated intercellular communication in stem cells.

We are interested in mechanisms underlying cellular protrusion-mediated long-distance cell-to-cell signaling in developing zebrafish. Recent findings, including ours, have shown long-thin cellular protrusion-mediated signaling play critical roles in many contexts, including stem cell maintenance, cancer progression, tissue remodeling/patterning, etc. We use high-resolution confocal live imaging, transgenic zebrafish, and other multidisciplinary approaches such as mathematical modeling, bioinformatics analyses.

We are seeking a highly motivated and career-oriented candidate with research expertise in Developmental Biology, Cell Biology, Molecular Genetics, preferably with some experience in confocal imaging. A successful candidate will have recently conferred, or will be conferring, their PhD degree in a relevant field, within approximately 12 months. The lab was recently awarded a competitive R01 equivalent grant, and the salary and benefits will follow NIH standards as well as the UC Irvine Post Doctoral salary scale.

The Eom Lab has an excellent, team-driven environment with lots of opportunity to develop management and mentoring skills (i.e. undergraduates and graduate students). We are seeking those who have a desire to make an impact with the work they do and have a strong commitment to develop their skills as well as contributing to the development of others.
