A postdoctoral position is available in the laboratory of Dr. Irina Sevrioukova in the Department of Molecular Biology and Biochemistry in the School of Biological Sciences at the University of California, Irvine. The current project is to study structure/function relationships and the mechanism of ligand binding and allosteric regulation of drug-metabolizing enzymes, particularly human CYP3A4 and CYP3A7, using a combination of biochemical, biophysical and structural approaches.

The ideal candidate should be self-motivated, with a PhD degree in life sciences and training in recombinant enzyme expression, purification and functional characterization. Other requirements include 1) publications in peer-reviewed journals, 2) strong organizational, written and oral communication skills, and 3) willingness to learn new approaches. Prior experience with CYPs and the knowledge of analytical mass spectrometry methods, chemical labeling and protein crystallography would be beneficial but not strictly required.
