This postdoctoral project is a collaboration between a Drosophila neurogenetics lab and a biophysics trafficking lab. We are seeking a scholar to use multiple approaches including super-resolution imaging to study the transport and regulation of organelles in vivo, in neurons that are regenerating after injury.
We are seeking a highly motivated, independent, and career-oriented candidate with research expertise in developmental and/or cell biology, ideally cellular trafficking and in vivo imaging, or possibly the biophysics of transport. Ideal candidates would be comfortable with writing code for highly quantitative image analysis and/or invertebrate genetics. Good written and oral communication skills are essential, along with excellent project management skills. We prefer candidates who are about to graduate with their PhD or MD/PhD degree, or have just graduated within the last 12 months. A track record of excellent first author publication(s) is required, along with a passion for science.
The salary and benefits will follow the NIH standard. After hiring, postdocs will be encouraged to apply to fellowships offered by private foundations and the NIH.
Irvine is located on the Southern California coast, mid-way between Los Angeles and San Diego.
