The Department of Molecular Biology and Biochemistry in the School of Biological Sciences is accepting applications in the Specialist Series in the area protein biochemistry / structural biology related to Alzheimer’s disease. The person in the position will perform experiments with human brain samples and transgenic mice under the direction of Dr. Charles Glabe. This NIH-funded project the protein composition and structures of amyloid aggregates that are deposited at different times and locations in distinct subtypes of disease. The hypothesis to be examined is that different types of amyloid accumulate in different phenotypic variants of disease. person also will work on the seeded aggregation and replication of these amyloids isolated from human brain. Renewal of the appointment will be contingent on the availability of adequate funding and performance.
