Four-Year-Old Walks the 2,650-Mile Pacific Crest Trail

Jonny Hasselmann and Family

At only four years old, Isla is the youngest person to have ever completed the Pacific Crest Trail. Along with her parents, Jonny Hasselman and Nikki Lucena, this little trailblazer hiked the full 2,650-mile trek from Campo at the United States-Mexico border, all the way to Manning Park at the United States-Canada border. Jonny was wrapping up his PhD in Neurobiology at UCI just prior to starting on this journey. As he said, “We do everything as a family. It was never really a question of whether we’re going to bring her or not.”
