The School of Biological Sciences is pleased to announce the appointment of Professor Steven Allison as the new Director of the Newkirk Center for Science and Society, effective October 1, 2021.  The Newkirk Center has had a large impact on the campus and our interactions with the community. I am confident that the Center will continue to flourish under Professor Allison’s leadership.

Professor Allison holds a joint appointment in the Schools of Biological Sciences and Physical Sciences.  He earned his Ph.D. in Biological Sciences from Stanford University and studies the resilience of microbial communities to drought and the effect of rapid climate change on carbon losses from southern California ecosystems.
